I saw a commercial for RIM's playbook the other day. It has some uniqueness to the interface. Sure all tablets are going to be similar to an extent but at least RIM tried to put a little originality into theirs unlike Samsung and their blatant copy of the ipad.

Well I have 3,500+ and I am at the 68040 level. Can't seem to find the link that showed what each level represented in number of posts.
It's amazing what you can find with a search (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=37092&highlight=user+titles) of the forums.

    Bertrand Serlet (Apple)
Apple today announced (http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2011/03/23serlet.html) that Bertrand Serlet, senior vice president of Mac Software Engineering, will be departing the company in order to "focus less on products and more on science", although his specific destination remains unknown. Serlet joined Steve Jobs at NeXT in 1989, and transitioned to Apple in 1997 when NeXT was acquired and Jobs brought back to lead Apple.

Craig Federighi demoing Mac OS X Lion (Reuters)
Serlet will be replaced by Craig Federighi, currently Apple's vice president of Mac Software Engineering and who has led Mac OS X engineering for the past two years. Federighi is another former NeXT and Apple employee who spent ten years at Ariba before returning to Apple in 2009. Serlet notes that the transition should be seamless given Federighi's role in leading the current Mac OS X team.Serlet has occasionally appeared at Apple keynote and media events over the years to introduce Mac OS X-related features, and thus well known to longtime Apple followers. Federighi made his first public presentation since his return to Apple at last October's "Back to the Mac" event (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/10/20/live-coverage-of-apples-back-to-the-mac-media-event/), taking the stage to show off some of the features of Apple's forthcoming Mac OS X Lion.

Whether there was good intent or not, I'm just thankful I installed untrackerd from Cydia; it continuously wipes the location file. JB FTW!

Have you noticed any issues without having this file? It seems to make sense this location tracking has benefits for performance of the phone in regards to signal acquisition.

Why? The law requires an rights owner to defend its IP or risk losing it. These suits are just business, no hard feelings, as seen by Apple's monster-sized component contract w/ Samsung. Any yes, business is about making money.

    I suppose you're right.

I have a black iPhone 4 but I think I may wait until the iPhone 5 hits and pickup a white iPhone 4 for $99 as a collectors item. I don't think I'm going to get the iPhone 5 because I have a policy to only buy a new iPhone every other year and I doubt the iPhone 6 will have the same design. I really, really like the look of the iPhone 4 and I always thought the white one was the better looking one that's why I want one in my collection.

Yes, because the hardware manufactured decided to use "GB" for Gibibyte instead of gigabyte. But since all memory (hardrives, ram) are in base 2, 2^30 = 1GB is correct.

    Err, sorry?

    2^30, right?

"The shuffle has no display to tell you what song you're listening to, no playlists, no navigating to the next song, and no EQ settings."

I believe you can navigate to the next song, this review was somewhat contradictory in that respect but at least they liked it. Now to go back to waiting for my 512 version to ship, on or before 01/20/05 changed to on or before 01/21/05

    Winni -

Danke sehr. Thanks for the time and effort to get back to me with a response that looks at things from a 'real world' perspective. Your points are issues which I have not even considered before.

    Everybody else -

Thank you kindly for taking the time to get back to me. All points noted and considered.

Since doing a little more research into it and taking the comments on this forum into account I have changed my opinion on whether or not macs should form part of our IT infrastructure. It would seem that the real world problems of planning for the future, ensuring user productivity and product support, not to mention the capital outlay issues are going to trump any warm fuzzy feelings that I may get from working with my mac at home. Being an engineering firm, the majority of our specialist software is, for the foreseeable future, going to be written for Windows only.

Most importantly then, the positive user experience I have at home will almost certainly not carry over to the workplace and will more than likely only generate further frustration for other non-mac users. I currently have enough trouble simply trying to ensure compatibility between Excel '07 files and Excel '03. Adding Excel for Mac files into the mix will no doubt simply introduce another layer of complexity which is certainly not beneficial. This is indicative of many of the 'small' problems that are typically faced every day in the office, again, no thank you to having any more of those.

While I wish the warm fuzzy feeling I get from using my mac at home could be translated into my working day experience, the fact of the matter at the moment is that facilitating this is just not practical or feasible and in a mixed PC / MAC environment not very likely to happen.

The fanboy in me hopes that someday this will get sorted out, but I am not going to hold my breath.

    miles01110 -

Thanks for the reality check, and I could not agree more with your take with respect to the the ways of the world and the importance of the real world concerns of IT people. IT is a department that I have never worked in, hence me posting on this forum to get some views on the topic at hand.
I spend all day writing reports, specifications, data sheets, e-mails to clients and suppliers etc. All of which require dotting every I and crossing every T from a grammar point of view. I am not going to waste my time ensuring my grammar is perfect on a forum post... seriously bru - not helpful at all.

Hello, I recently got the texting app "Text Now". I accidentaly chose for it to not allow push notifications, even though I want it to. How would I go about fixing that? I tried re-downloading but it didn't work.

I'm sure this data will be coming to a Keynote near you.

The trend is your friend, and unless Apple can turn it around, the trend is clearly moving toward a marginalization of iOS.

hey FOW back on track!.. Apple's about to fall; profits are down, market-share falling, iPad's left in stores, share price collapsing.... you saw it all first!

There is certainly no official support for it and I've never seen it attempted, but maybe it would work.

You would still only be able to use 4 memory slots if that was why you were thinking of it being something worth doing. So the only benefit is in a financial one if you were upgrading.

I hope this means we will see HDMI out on the next MacBook Pros. I really want to be able to use my soon-to-be-had MacBook Pro Core2Duo as a media center too. With that said, here's to hoping the new MBPs have HDMI and the ability to output Dolby PLII and at least 1080i. My current 1.25ghz G4 book chokes on 720p so I never hook it up to my plasma HDTV.
    Added:
I'm still not convinced that Blu Ray is going to beat out HD-DVD.Man you need EyeTV2 with an EyeTV 500 Digital Broadcast reccorder. You don't need no stinkin HDMI and it plays beautiful 1080p on any 24" Apple or Dell Display from your 1.25GHz G4 without choking at all.

We all know Android is unstoppable with the 350k phones it sells a day. Some lame firm bribed by Apple have now decided to include none phone devices to try and blind the public. It wont work we all know Android is conquering the smart phone business.
